If you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.

There are exercises that I have done in YYTT geared to training the sixth sense. Many of them involving seeing things with your eyes closed in order to build your sense of perception. Recently I've noticed that my psychic abilities are unusually heightened... to a point that I see things a beat right before they happen as well as a more defined awareness of the skills i noticed as a child. It serves as an interesting thing to observe, but beyond that - you never know when you're going to have these ideas, not to mention any idea of them and you have lost your immediacy and your awareness goes right with it.

Tonight I had an experience in a posture. was working in Salamba Sirsasana simply focusing on the breath. I felt a warm sensation come over the crown of my head. This area seemed to glow in my minds eye. Then I saw my arms raise. I wish I could say that I chose to move in that moment, but it took a moment of confidence. Then I did lift my arms. And I was actually balanced for a brief instant... but wouldn't you know it - in that very instant I dropped my breath to think - no freaking way - i'm going to fall. And then I replaced my arms. Fascinating stuff. I've only seen Iyengar pictured in that variation. I'm sure the world is filled with people that do the posture to that level, but it wasn't something I had ever even dreamed to work towards, much less do. But there I was doing it, so I gave it a try. Next time I'll have to see if I can keep up the breath. Although, I won't be just busting out and lifting up my arms without feeling that glow.

I've read about the spontaneous flow that sometimes occurs when asana and meditation meet just right. I've never experienced it. How exciting! What a validation of the deepening of your practice!
